Stock Market 2023 Holiday Calendar
The stock market holidays are the same yearly, but the calendar days are not. Additionally, if a holiday lands on a Saturday, it is typically observed on the preceding Friday. Also, if a holiday falls on a Sunday, the stock market will usually observe it the following Monday.

When Does the Stock Market Open and Close?
In the United States, the NYSE and Nasdaq normally open at 9:30 ET and closes at 4 pm ET except on holidays and early closure days. This time is referred to as the day session. The stock market is open from Monday to Friday and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Extended Hours Trading
In addition, the stock market has extended hours of trading. Pre-market trading is permitted between 6:30 am and 9:30 am ET. Also, after-hours trading is allowed from 4 pm to 8 pm. Most pre-market and after-hours trading occurs online. Pre-market and after-hours trading have higher risks because of less liquidity, higher volatility, and the impact of earnings announcements.
Bond Market Holidays
The bond market follows the same holiday schedule as the stock market but with two extra days. The additional days are Columbus Day and Veteran’s Day. The holiday calendar is set by the Securities and Financial Markets Association.

Bank Holidays
